Board of Directors
The committed individuals who voluntarily serve on Concern Mission’s board of directors oversee the mission to ensure we effectively accomplish our vision.
Concern Mission International is organized by a Board of Directors that is responsible for oversight and supervision of the overall operation of projects, programs, and activities.
The Board is the primary force pressing the realization of opportunities for charitable services and fulfillment of commitments to the suffering and dying world. The Board approves, reviews, and ascertains that donations, gifts, and the financial structure are adequate to meet and implement strategic plans. Our Board is balanced and includes dynamic and experienced Christian volunteers of pastors, administrators, counselors, and business professionals who are not compensated.
Meetings of the Board
The Board of Directors, which convenes every four months, is the highest decision-making body of the Concern Mission International. All member associations have the right to participate and vote in it. The Board of Directors directs decisions relating to the mission's statutes and it elects the Board of Directors and other members of the International Mission Coordinators of the various countries where Concern Mission International is presently operating.
The maximum number of Board of Directors is 12 members who are elected at each annual general meeting. The board meets four times a year and has five standing committees: Governance, Finance or Audit and Risk, Fundraising, Marketing, and Executive committees.
The term of office for a Director is three years and Directors may serve three successive three-year terms.
The Board can co-opt members of the organization when necessary to maintain its full complement of Directors.
Accountability of the Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is accountable to:
-
Governments. To ensure we comply with all relevant requirements in all countries of operation. To ensure funds donated are used effectively in pursuit of the organization’s objectives.
-
Beneficiaries. To ensure the design and implementation of effective programs that make a real difference.
-
Staff. To ensure their welfare and safety.

Membership with Concern Mission
Any concerned person or group with an interest in international development can become a concerned member.

A Board Member at Large
Concern Mission International member of the board "at large" has no specific assigned duties unless those assigned by the chairman of the Board of Directors, or by a board committee. Board Members at Large act as additional voting members of the Board of Directors and have most of the privileges other directors do.
A Board Member at Large might not fulfill any of the officer roles on the Board, nor be tasked with the same duties and responsibilities as a full board member. However, the main role of a Concern Mission's Member at Large is to provide support to the Board of Directors and to act as an intermediary party between the Board and the rest of the membership.

My Mission's Trip Assessment
In the months of June through July of 2023, during my recent missions to many of these African countries, Nigeria, Abuja, Accra, Ghana, and Benin, I visited orphanage homes, local clinics, schools, villages, towns, and cities, I have listened to less fortunate men, women, and especially the innocent children speak about the devastating impact of hunger, conflict, and violence on their lives. And they are not alone. According to most recent statistics, today two billion people are affected by fragility, conflict, or violence, and by 2030, half of these people will live in extreme poverty.
Last year a record number, 68.5 million people, were displaced due to violence and conflict. 120 million people worldwide depend on humanitarian assistance.
If it is true that overall the world population is healthier, wealthier, and better connected, we also have some hundreds of conflicts beyond fragility with massive impacts on people, systems, neighboring countries, and the international community.
